RADIANT GUIDES / NETWORK & LATENCY
Fast internet.
Still feeling lag?
Speed is only part of the picture. Get a clearer view of delay, busy connections and your route.
Read the guide ↓01Speed vs. latency+
Throughput describes how much data moves over time. Latency describes a delay. Distance, network equipment and the route to the server affect latency; more bandwidth alone does not remove those delays. Cloudflare explains latency and throughput.
02Choose your test+
- Speed test: measure download and upload transfer rates to the test service.
- Bufferbloat: compare latency when the connection is idle and under load.
- Connection route: inspect the route toward a destination.
- Dashboard network readings: see current adapter traffic, not maximum internet speed.
Radiant keeps these views separate because a single result cannot describe every game server or every time of day.
03Compare the connection+
Repeat the check with other downloads paused. If possible, compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi at the same location and time. Cloudflare notes that Ethernet can offer a more consistent connection. Keep the test destination and other conditions as similar as practical.
04Know the limits+
No Windows utility controls the entire path to a game server. Keep your provider, router and game support in the picture when a problem persists. A result from one test service is not a guarantee of your in-game ping.
